Man accused of pointing gun during fight

A man said another man pointed a gun at him during a fight Friday afternoon in the 100 block of Gilmore Street.

One man said the alleged instigator — who was previously in a relationship with one of the occupants — pushed his way into the home when a woman answered the door. The man said he attempted to intervene, but the alleged intruder threw him to the ground.

The man grabbed a baseball bat and the two struggled over it. The alleged intruder then said he had a gun in his vehicle, retrieved it and pointed it at the occupants, the occupants told police.

The man said he called 911, but his phone was knocked from his hand after another struggle. The man retrieved a knife and said the alleged intruder then put his gun away.

Police arrived and said the man’s shirt was torn and his face was bloody.

The alleged intruder told police the two fought, but he didn’t have a gun.

The occupants were issued case cards on how they could seek warrants against the alleged intruder.

Man hit in head with bottle

A man suffered a large gash on his head after he said another man hit him with a glass bottle Saturday evening.

The man said he was talking with several people in the 200 block of Thomas Street when a man pulled up and told the victim he had been instructed to hit him in the head with a glass bottle, then hit him with the bottle. Other people at the home declined to cooperate with police.

The victim was given a case card on how to seek warrants for battery.

Car reported stolen found wrecked, abandoned

A person driving a reported stolen car apparently fled after slamming the vehicle into a tree Sunday evening.

An officer responded to the 100 block of Buck Murphy Road about midnight, where the 2012 Chrysler 200 was wrecked with no occupants. Troup County firefighters were at the scene and said there was no sign the driver or occupants had been ejected, and could have gotten out of the vehicle without assistance.

The officer said there was blood on the driver’s side windshield, indicating someone hit their head on it.

About 1 a.m. today, the officer went to the home of the registered owner, who said it must have been stolen from its parking area outside the residence in the 200 block of Hillside Drive. The vehicle was valued between $12,000 and $15,000.
