LaGrange, Troup begin region schedules

An abbreviated Region 2-AAAA schedule will get underway for the LaGrange and Troup basketball teams on Friday.

Region play was supposed to begin weeks ago, but that plan was thwarted when all athletic activities were shut down in Muscogee County because of Covid-19 complications.

There are nine teams in the region, and outside of LaGrange and Troup, the region’s teams are all in Muscogee County.

Originally, the region’s teams were going to play each other twice, but because of the delays, they’ll play each another once.

Each team will play an eight-game region schedule in the regular season, leading up to the region tournament in February.

The top-four finishers in the  region tournaments qualify for the state playoffs.

Troup’s boys’ and girls’ teams will be at home on Friday against Hardaway, while LaGrange’s teams will visit Columbus High.

LaGrange and Troup played earlier this season, but they were non-region games.
