By KEVIN ECKLEBERRY

Daily News

After taking care of business in the district tournament, the Troup County 10-and-under all-star softball team will look to keep the good times going at state.

Troup County will participate in the three-team Dizzy Dean state tournament on Thursday and Friday in Heard County, with the winner advancing to the World Series in Mississippi in July.

The state tournament will feature the same three teams that competed in the district tournament, Troup County, Heard County and Carroll County.

In the district tournament, which was also held in Franklin, Troup beat Carroll County 6-3 in the championship game.

At state, the three teams will play a round-robin series of games on Thursday to set up the seeding for the single-elimination portion of the tournament on Friday.

On Thursday, Troup will play Heard County at 5:30 p.m., and Carroll County at 9 p.m.

On Friday at 6 p.m., the number two seed and number three seed will play, with the winner advancing to the championship game at 8 p.m. against the top seed.

OF NOTE: For much more on the Troup County all-star team, see Wednesday’s sports section.
